GARDEN GROVE, CA—Laboratory cancer scientist Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen, who currently serves as a Garden Grove City Councilmember, today announced receiving the endorsement of California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.
“Diedre is a great local leader and an even better person,” said Speaker Rendon. “She is an exceptionally hard worker, thoughtful, and actually knows the pressures facing working families. She’ll be a tremendous advocate for them.”
“Speaker Rendon is a friend and mentor, and I’m humbled to have his early support,” said Nguyen. “Anthony and I share a common narrative of coming from modest means, furthering ourselves through California’s world-class higher education system, and investing our skills and time in making our communities better places for everyone.
“California has given me so much. That’s why I’m running: to help other Californians find their path to a better life.”
Ms. Nguyen was first elected to serve on the Garden Grove City Council in 2016. She was re-elected in 2018 by an even larger margin of victory. By profession, Diedre Thu-Ha works in Molecular Oncology and is a Clinical Cytogeneticist.
Assembly District 72 is located in north central Orange County and includes the cities of Seal Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley, and Los Alamitos, portions of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, and Santa Ana, and the communities of Rossmoor and Midway City.
